Selfish Wishes

Selfish+Wishes

By the time I stepped outside the leaves were on fire. They were falling, falling onto fields of grass and lighting everything into dark auburn flames. The red sky was collecting black smoke and ashes of the crying and torcherous screams of the people and demons.  I stood in the frame of my front door looking out upon the chaos feeling numb. I knew what I had done for myself, and how horribly selfish it was. I knew I was no longer on earth; I was somewhere much, much worse.  I felt his hand touch my shoulder as he giggled looking over me. He leaned down next to my ear.

“Look what you’ve done.” His breath hit the back of my neck sending shivers down my spine. I could feel his mischievous smile grow slightly as he stood up straight; now standing next to me. I continued to look at the scene being displayed in front of me, tears finally forming in my eyes.

“Is he okay?” I asked slowly, my whole body shaking.

“Maybe. I cannot tell you exactly.” I turned around in sadness and anger.

“That wasn’t part of the deal Lucifer!” I yelled at him. He smiled at me.

“I never said it was going to be a fairy tale ending did I?” He raised an eyebrow at me.

“Please, just tell me.” I softly cried.

“Ugh, well, if you so insist, let me explain to you what’s happening, or what’s about to unravel.” He said, shutting the door and having me follow him to the dining hall. This was no longer the house I lived in, but a huge and very old mansion. Something like dracula would live in except better and much more neat.

“Beelzebub, I made it very clear I had a human to deal with, didn’t I?” The 6’4 demon crossed his arms looking in annoyance at the demon with burnt orange hair who was rummaging in the fridge.

I thought if I walked away he’d come back, but I hurt him and he died because of me. I just wish I could go back and save him.

“Oh, sorry Lucifer, I was just so hungry, so I thought I’d take a snack.” He nervously chuckled.

“That’s a snack? That’s like 6 or 7 meals!” I replied.

“Well, since you two are here, Sakura this is Beelzebub, the avatar of gluttony.” Lucifer said adjusting his red silk tie.

“Hi Beelzebub.” I waved at him.

“Hello Sakura! Nice to meet you, you can call me Beel!” He smiled a kind smile. He definitely didn’t seem like a demon at all. He was too nice and he didn’t even look like a demon either you would think he’s a really tall, sweet, and super athletic jock.

“Well, I better get going before Belphie takes another nap again. Bye Lucifer, bye Sakura it was nice meeting you!” He giggled running out of the dinning hall.

Who’s Belphie? I’ve heard that name before.

“I apologize for all my brothers idiodic and strange behaviors. Please, have a seat.” He sat at the foot of the table. Lucifer gestured for me to take a seat by him. I cautiously took a seat. He poured tea in two cups and handed it to me.

“So, you have more brothers than Beel I assume?” I asked. He sipped his tea and sighed.

“Unfortunately, yes I do. There’s 7 of them; Mammon, Leviathan, Asmodeus, Beelzebub, Belphus, and lastly, Satan.” He sighs, looking at the table then back at me. “But, we are not here for these fools. We are here to discuss your issue.” He smirks.

“He’ll be okay right? You made me a promise!” I looked the demon of pride in the eyes. His dark black eyes with streaks of red glowed ever so slightly at that moment. He chuckled.

“You wanna know about Chenle? You wanna know how he’s doing? You wanted him all to yourself, you’re so, so selfish.”

Tears began forming in my hazel colored eyes. I know what I did was selfish, but I wanted him to be with me forever. I hated that I walked away like that.

“I thought if I walked away he’d come back, but I hurt him and he died because of me. I just wish I could go back and save him.” I cried. I can’t believe I was being vulnerable to Lucifer of all demons.

“Very well, I’ll tell you how this’ll go. I’m going to take you back to that day and have you start over. And I expect you know well everything comes with a price.” He looked at me.

“What do I have to pay?” I asked.

“Oooh! Are you guys talkin’ bout’ money?! I love that stuff!” Said a voice. Lucifer covered his face and sighed in disappointment. I turned my head to see who it was. It was a tall, sun-kissed, and white haired demon with blue and gold eyes. He was pretty, but not as pretty as my Chenle.

“Hi I’m Mammon! I’m the best of the best, the Avatar of Greed! Haha!” he smiled.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Sakura.” I smiled at him.

“H-hi. What are you lo-looking like that at me for! Are ya crazy or somethin’?!”

I stared at him confused for a moment before Lucifer spoke.

“He has what you humans call a ‘crush’, specifically on you, Sakura. He doesn’t know how to speak his emotions because he does not acquire the proper amount of brain cells to do so.”

“HEY! That is not true! I-I grr.” Mammon crossed his arms and looked away. “Well, I’m a busy guy ya know! I don’t have time to talk to low class demons or humans coz’ I gotta photo shoot! This gig’s gonna pay me big time! And time is money, so I’m leaving!” He said walking out. I looked back at Lucifer who was clearly embarrassed.

“I apologize. I truly was hoping you didn’t have to meet Mammon of them all. He truly is something, something so horrible he puts all demons to shame really.”

I couldn’t help but to laugh at the situation.

“Why are you laughing?” Lucifer looked at me.

“Sorry, but I couldn’t help myself! I find this all to be very entertaining,” I giggled.

“Anyways back to what you were saying?”

“Ah yes, as I was saying, your price for what you want is fairly reasonable and simple enough for you. Usually things like this are unmanageable and cruel, but you’re very fortunate that I like you.” He looked at me.

I knew the way he looked at me meant he wanted more than what I bargained for.

“Lucifer, what is it that you want from me? You’re very ambiguous with your answers.” I sighed.

“Well, I do suppose my answers are ambiguous, but they wouldn’t if I hadn’t been interrupted by that nuisance of a brother.” He said leaning back. “You need to work for my brothers and I for two weeks.”

“That’s actually really simple.” I was shocked at the gorgeous fallen angel’s response.

“Now, now let me get to the rules,” he looked at me sharply. “You get one shot. If you mess up it’s on you, so don’t try and beg my brothers to help you. Are we clear? “

“Got it.” I nodded with determination.

“Very well,” he smiled. “Now let’s get you back.”
