An apple a day keeps the doctor away, or so they say. There are as many types of apples as there are personalities, and each person has a preference as to which they’d grab for a snack.

“I like the Granny Smith apples because they aren’t too sweet and just a little bit sour,” Lexy Pritchard, senior, said.

These classics are a favorite of many people, whether for cooking or just a sour treat.

“They match my personality with their sourness,” Pritchard teasingly added.

“My favorite is Honey Crisp, I love Honey Crisp,” Jarod McCants, junior, said. “Like the name says they are crisp and the flavor is just so much sweeter than other apples.”

Many people crave Honey Crisp just like McCants, when asked about their favorite apple, this was the most common response.

“I like the Fuji apples because most apples are hard and crunchy but I prefer the softer kind and they are sweeter than most.,” Emily Crider, senior, said.

Crunchy apples are not for everyone, for those who enjoy soft foods these apples are for you.

“I like SweeTango apples because they are very juicy and the color is very appealing,” Jei Jones, junior, said.

While these are not widely known apples, those who eat them like their sweet and tangy taste.

“I like the Golden Delicious apple because it is really sweet and it’s golden just like me,” Ivette Diaz, sophomore, said.

For me, these apples are a throwback to the first grade when my mom put one in my lunch every day.

With the return of spring, more apples will begin to fill the shelves in your local grocery store. Enjoy your favorites but try something new too.
