A Day to Remember is a punk metal band, made up of five males; Jeremy McKinnon (singer), Kevin Skaff (lead guitar), Neil Westfall (rhythm guitar), Alex Shelnutt (drum player), and Josh Woodard (bass player). The band launched their first album in 2005 and ended up signing with an indie label. With their hard work and dedication, this band has sold out continental tours, had two top 25 Billboard debuts, and been at the top of the Billboard Indie Albums Chart. The band’s most recently released album, What Separates Me From You, was at #11 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and has sold over 300,000 copies.

I was excited to hear this band’s music for myself after reading about their success, and I was not disappointed. Their music ranges from catchy to angsty and excels in both areas, and their thoughtful lyrics and obvious fervor made the listening experience even more enjoyable. I have listened to six of their songs, “The Downfall of Us All” being my personal favorite, and I look forward to listening to more in the future. This band is definitely worth checking out.

The contest is open to current AHS students, one entry per person. Publication staffers are not eligible to win.
