Future educators in high esteem

Congratulations to the members of TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) for their win last fortnight, which has elevated the team to the state competition.

David Do, senior, won gold and qualified for state in the Educational Leadership Fundamentals test. Katie Eldredge, Marisa Otterbine and Ranee Whiddon, all seniors, qualified for state in the Chapter Yearbook Competition. Katie Eldredge, senior, placed 2nd in Exploring Professional Support Services Careers.

Senior David Do claimed that TAFE is a great way for future educators to find their path.

“Honestly, I modeled myself after one of my freshman teachers, Mrs. Martin,” Do said.

“She taught me how great teaching could be.”

In the program, students learn about multiple and diverse topics about the teaching profession such as applying for a job and creating lesson plans. They compete in tournaments based on these subjects.

These students will compete at the state “Teach for Tomorrow” Conference and Competition in February.

Greetings and salutations. I am a senior and I have been working for The Colt since freshman year. I love the newspaper staff and plan to remain on the paper until I graduate. I love to write and I will try my hardest to make good stories. I plan on joining AmeriCorp once I graduate and then I will go onto college to become an archivist.
