Principal Jennifer Young introduces the National Merit Scholar Commended Students and the National Hispanic Scholars during the pep rally on September 26. These students placed in the top 5% of more than 1.5 millions students on the 2012 PSAT.
Some students take the PSAT simply for practice. They’re not overly concerned about their scores, but rather take the test just to get a feel for what the SAT will be like. Other students prepare for the PSAT, taking study courses and then agonizing over the long wait for their scores. Either way, placing in the top 5% of more than 1.5 millions student testers is quite the honor and this year AHS has 13 students who have achieved this on the 2012 PSAT.
The following eight students have been recognized as National Merit Scholar Commended Students.
