The Colts line up against the Duncanville Panthers. The Colts prevailed over the Panthers with a 57-37 win.

A desolate expanse lies between two armies, yet to reveal themselves. The time is a touch after 7:30 in the evening, and a full moon has begun to rise over the battlefield to be. There’s a whistle and troops storm the field.

A battalion in blue uniforms bearing the insignia of a panther is met by the troops in black and green under a hail of applause. They are unbroken horses, they are the Colts.

For their first game of the season, the Colts took on the Duncanville Panthers with a strong offense. They finished the first half with a significant lead, 41-14.

Many students actually thought that the game would end without resistance, with some seniors confidently stating final scores of 64-0, 70-0, and 54-28. However, the official final score was 57-37.

Some power players of the night were running back Duson Sproles, senior, who scored two touchdowns, and defensive lineman Taven Christopher, senior, who not only managed a textbook interception, but also scored a touchdown after running the ball back down the field.

After the game, Sproles pointed out his only regret.

“I could’ve blocked better,” he said.

But of course there is no team without a leader, and the man that led the team to victory is Scott Peach, head coach.

“I was really pleased with their performance,” he said.

He declined to share his thoughts about how the season might go though, saying that “it is too early to tell”.

For the first game of the season, the Colts had a strong showing. They will take on the Marcus Marauders this Friday night.

After their win, the players joined together to sing the alma mater.
